1. āCritical financial challenges' force Animal Charity to suspend some operations (wkbn.com) ā Animal Charity of Ohio in Boardman is suspending its animal control services after a surge of costly intakes pushed the shelter into a financial crisis. Humane investigations and regular intakes will continue, but leaders warn the organizationās survival depends on new funding and community help through volunteering, fostering, adopting, or donating as Mahoning County officials review the situation.

Police respond after multiple residents report car vandalism (wkbn.com) ā Boardman police are investigating a string of car break-ins at apartment complexes on Forest Park Place and Glenwood Avenue, where several residents found windows smashed and purses, cash, and bank cards stolen. One victim saw fraudulent DoorDash charges attempted, while officers also recovered a black knife sheath and are working with property managers to review security footage.

3. Scouts from Valley celebrate successes (vindy.com) ā Local Scoutsā hard work is paying off, with 34 Eagle projects logging more than 19,000 service hours across Mahoning and nearby counties. While Clevelandās big systems avoided warnings, several Ohio communities, including Boardman, now face pressure to post clearer, consumer-friendly pricing or risk hefty annual penalties.

Library officials respond to yet another challenge on Poland site (vindy.com) ā A major fight over relocating the Poland library branch could affect how Mahoning County library dollars are shared with communities like Boardman, Austintown and Canfield. Library leaders insist the move is fiscally responsible, while the Save Our Library group argues new sewer and construction costs make the project too expensive and wants trustees to reconsider at their Thursday meeting.
