No one's perfect: 6 Stark districts earn 4.5-stars on state report cards (cantonrep.com) — Families in Canton City Schools will see the district's overall rating dip to two stars this year, even as officials highlight steady academic gains and a perfect five-star score for the Canton City Career Tech program. Nearby Stark County districts like North Canton and Jackson earned 4.5 stars, while superintendents debate whether Ohio's revamped report cards truly reflect student progress and local challenges.
   

2. Ohio State Highway Patrol looking for driver suspected in May 2026 fatal hit-and-run in Bethlehem Township (fox8.com) — State troopers are asking Canton-area residents to help identify the driver in a May 23 Bethlehem Township hit-and-run that killed a Navarre man and injured two others, including a 21-year-old Canton resident. Investigators say a small light-colored sedan or SUV struck a fallen tree, pushing it into pedestrians, then fled. Anyone with information is urged to call the Canton patrol post.
   

3. Comic Books are Cool Again (hercampus.com) — If you've been eyeing the shelves at Bills, Books, and More in Canton, you're part of a growing wave of younger comic readers reshaping the hobby. A longtime employee describes surging sales, bigger orders for new titles, and social media buzz that's turning this into a new "golden age" for local comic fans.
   

4. New Chick-fil-A restaurant landing at Akron-Canton Airport (kentucky.com) — If you fly out of Akron-Canton Airport, you'll soon have a Chick-fil-A option past security, with opening targeted for November. The airport is also updating other food spots, adding new vending options, and expanding locally made retail items as passenger traffic climbs toward 1 million travelers this year.
