• ICE deportation flights surge at Ohio's Akron-Canton Airport as unpaid landing fees mount (ohiocapitaljournal.com) — Deportation flights using Akron-Canton Regional Airport have surged since spring, leaving three charter airlines owing more than $46,000 in unpaid landing fees that affect the publicly funded facility serving Canton. Detailed observations describe frequent early-morning ICE flights, prisoner transports from several Ohio jails, and uncertainty over whether operations will return to Youngstown now that runway repairs there are complete.
   

• Former Canton officers avoid jail after pleading guilty in Frank Tyson death (cleveland.com) — Canton residents now know that two former city police officers in the Frank Tyson case received only probation and resigned from the force after pleading to misdemeanors instead of facing trial for reckless homicide. The judge barred them from serving as officers during probation, while Tyson's family continues a federal civil lawsuit against the city over his 2024 in-custody death.
   

• New leads in 2011 Canton bible study murder; reward at $25,000 (cleveland19.com) — Investigators say they are closer than ever to solving the 2011 shooting death of University of Akron student Dale Settle Jr. on Hazlett Avenue NW in Canton, and have identified two incarcerated suspects in another case. Canton police and the ATF have boosted the reward to $25,000 and are urging anyone who was in the area that night to share even small memories or tips.
