Cincinnati receives $2M state grant to prepare former shopping center site for new housing (local12.com) — Cincinnati just secured a $2 million state grant to get the long-vacant MidPointe Crossing site in Bond Hill ready for new housing, including single-family homes and townhomes. The money will fund demolition, grading, stormwater work, and road subbase so construction can finally move forward near major employers and the new Hamilton County offices, after years of stalled redevelopment plans.
   

2. 7-Year-Old Black Girl With Special Needs Dies After Being Found Unresponsive on School Bus (blacknews.com) — Cincinnati residents are grappling with the death of 7-year-old Ngone Talla, a local student with special needs who was found unresponsive on her school bus and later died at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Police and the Hamilton County Coroner are investigating, while Cincinnati Public Schools has deployed its Crisis Response Unit to support classmates, staff, and the grieving community.
   

3. Cincinnati rallies from 21-point halftime deficit to defeat Miami (Ohio) 35-31 on Tabb's TD run (newser.com) — Cincinnati football fans just watched the Bearcats storm back from a 21-point halftime deficit to beat Miami (Ohio) 35–31 in the long-running Victory Bell rivalry at FC Cincinnati's stadium. The win moves Cincinnati to 3–0, and local fans can now look ahead to next Saturday's Big 12 home opener against Kansas State in the city.
   

4. Brown family climbs, local CEO ranks among America's richest: Forbes (local12.com) — Cincinnati Bengals owner Mike Brown and his family have jumped to No. 224 on the Forbes 400 list with an estimated $7.6 billion fortune, making them the wealthiest in Cincinnati. Local entrepreneur Dr. August Troendle, CEO of Madisonville-based Medpace, also appears on the list, underscoring how major local sports and life-sciences businesses are driving enormous private wealth in the region.
   

5. 'He saved his own life': Former Cincinnati fire chief escapes after home catches fire (local12.com) — A retired Cincinnati fire chief who served the city for nearly 30 years is recovering after escaping a devastating house fire in Miami Township with his son's dog. The 83-year-old used his training to get out safely, but his home and belongings were destroyed, and his family has launched a fundraiser as he works with salvage crews and leans on fellow retired firefighters for support.
