Leaders hope these "precision cuts" will postpone a new levy, even as salaries, benefits, and strong cash reserves shape how services and future building investments affect everyday library users in Cleveland Heights.
   

2. Cleveland Heights synagogue sues Cuyahoga Land Bank after eviction (cleveland19.com) — A longtime Taylor Road synagogue near Cain Park in Cleveland Heights has sued the Cuyahoga Land Bank after being evicted from its home of nearly 80 years just before Rosh Hashanah. Congregation leaders say they had a valid lease and a prior agreement to regain ownership, and they're now seeking a temporary worship space and help recovering religious artifacts while the case moves forward.
   

3. Lorain at Cleveland Heights football: Preview capsule for Sept. 18 game (morningjournal.com) — Cleveland Heights hosts Lorain at Crawford Stadium on Friday, Sept. 18, giving the Tigers a chance to grab their first win after an 0-4 start. With a freshman quarterback leading a rebuilding offense and key players having transferred out, Heights faces a vulnerable Lorain defense that has allowed big scores but still brings dangerous passing threats.
   

4. CSU, Play House deal 'transformational' (neo-trans.blog) — A new alliance between Cleveland Play House and Cleveland State University aims to expand arts education and professional opportunities for students across Northeast Ohio. The collaboration is led in part by managing director Rachel Fink, a Cleveland Heights High School graduate whose early experiences at CPH helped shape her commitment to arts access and inclusive leadership, potentially inspiring current Heights students considering theatre careers.
   

5. Meet Cuyahoga County's Heritage Tree (news5cleveland.com) — A new White Oak "Heritage Tree" has been planted at Lake View Cemetery, right where Cleveland, Cleveland Heights, and East Cleveland meet, as part of the America 250-Ohio celebration. Local leaders, including Cleveland Heights' mayor, joined the ceremony, highlighting both the area's history and a long-term commitment to environmental sustainability that future generations of Heights residents may enjoy.
