More than 65 buildings now have outdoor gardens and hundreds of classrooms use indoor growing stations, tying hands-on gardening directly to Ohio learning standards and boosting student engagement.

• Columbus Zoo announces passing of Gus the otter (abc6onyourside.com) — The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in nearby Powell has announced the death of Gus, an Asian small-clawed otter who spent more than a decade in Columbus and outlived the typical lifespan for his species. Staff say Gus, a beloved ambassador who raised two litters and educated visitors about conservation, was humanely euthanized after age-related health issues worsened.

• Nepali community gathers for vigil (nbc4i.com) — Members of Ohio's Nepali community gathered in the Columbus area for a candlelight vigil supporting those affected by deadly flooding and landslides in Nepal. Organized by the Non‑Resident Nepali Association Ohio Chapter in Reynoldsburg, the event offered prayers and encouraged donations for food, clean water, shelter, and other relief needs.
