1. Water main replacement projects continue across Columbus (10tv.com) — Columbus is pushing ahead with extensive neighborhood water main replacements to prevent the kinds of winter breaks that froze streets and disrupted service on the west side. Backed by a proposed $1.9 billion capital investment in water, sewer, and power, the work may briefly interrupt water service, usually overnight, as aging lines are swapped out to keep drinking water safe.
   

2. Columbus fire station roof in South Linden remains unrepaired months after collapse (10tv.com) — Months after a partial roof collapse at Columbus Fire Station 18 in South Linden, the building is still covered by a tarp, worrying neighbors who rely on its medics and firefighters. City leaders say repairs are a top priority and are included in a major capital budget, with construction now expected to start October 15 after repeated delays.
   

3. Homestead Metro Park in Hilliard to grow by more than 300 acres (10tv.com) — Homestead Metro Park, just outside Columbus in Hilliard, is set to expand by 333 acres of mostly natural land in the Big Darby Creek watershed, at no cost to Metro Parks. New trails, prairies, wetlands, and reforested areas will give Columbus-area residents and their dogs more quiet space to explore as restoration work begins this fall and continues for several years.
   

4. Drainage issues hit Columbus skate park designed by Tony Hawk's father (nbc4i.com) — Weekend rains left Dodge Park's Tony Hawk–designed skate bowl in Columbus filled with feet of standing water, frustrating skaters who consider it a neighborhood hangout. City recreation and parks crews have since unclogged drains and cleared nearby roadway grates, while officials plan a longer-term master plan once recent $150,000 improvements reach the end of their lifespan.
   

5. Program provides canine support for Ohio State students (nbc4i.com) — Ohio State students in Columbus are getting extra emotional support from Buckeye Paws, a growing team of nearly 40 therapy dogs handled by OSU employees. Started at the Wexner Medical Center in 2020, the program now roams campus offering comfort, stress relief, and a friendlier atmosphere as it plans to expand to about 50 dogs.
