Butler County man uses passion for cycling to benefit local animal shelter (wcpo.com) — A Fairfield retiree known as “Ferg the Bike Dude” is turning donated and refurbished bicycles into thousands of dollars for Butler County’s Animal Friends Humane Society. By selling bikes online, he’s already raised more than $12,000 this year, helping the overcrowded shelter cover daily costs while encouraging locals to donate bikes, foster pets, or volunteer.

Katelyn's law, named for Fairfield woman, passes Ohio House (dispatch.com) — State lawmakers have advanced Katelyn’s Law, inspired by Fairfield resident Katelyn Markham, to remove Ohio’s statute of limitations for crimes tied to a murder, like abuse of a corpse. The change stems from challenges prosecutors faced more than a decade after Markham disappeared from her Fairfield home and was later found dead in Indiana.
