• Woman fights officers during arrest at convenience store: Independence Police Blotter (cleveland.com) — Police in Independence recently arrested an irate woman at a Rockside Road convenience store after she allegedly damaged items, threatened officers, and resisted arrest while also having outstanding warrants. In a separate late-night stop on Sprague Road, officers arrested a driver suspected of impairment who had an open container and needed an interpreter. These incidents reflect the kinds of calls local officers are handling around town.
   

• Fairview reverse-sweeps Independence in CVC Metro volleyball thriller (chagrinvalleyconference.com) — Independence High School’s volleyball team saw its long conference winning streak snapped in a five-set thriller at Fairview, tightening the CVC Metro Division title race. After taking the first two sets, the Blue Devils faded as Fairview stormed back on its Breast Cancer Awareness night. Independence still leads the division, but Fairview now controls its path to at least a share of the crown.
