• Kent Roosevelt High School assistant football coach pleads not guilty to charges in Kent man's hit-and-run death (wkyc.com) — A Kent Roosevelt High School assistant football coach has pleaded not guilty to felony failure-to-stop charges after a 22-year-old Kent man was found fatally injured on Franklin Avenue. Kent police say he returned to the scene but never called 911, while the victim's grieving family remembers him as a devoted father and uplifting presence in the community. 
• CCESC to provide hands-on career exploration at the 7th Annual Mahoning Valley Skilled Trades Expo (morningjournalnews.com) — Students from around the region can explore hands-on careers at the Mahoning Valley Skilled Trades Expo later this month, while families closer to home are invited to Kids STEAM University on Sept. 12 at Kent State University. The Columbiana County Educational Service Center is also starting construction at its Opportunity Center and shuffling staff roles ahead of its mid-September board meeting.
• February 3rd, 2008, where were you? (bigblueview.com) — A longtime football fan recalls watching the Giants upset the Patriots in the 2008 Super Bowl while locked up in Portage County Jail just outside Kent, after a drunk-driving crash in front of the Kent police station. His experience in Kent, including an unexpected late-night TV privilege from guards, helped cement his switch from Browns fan to devoted Giants supporter.
