• Mentor Schools CFO leaving as district faces multimillion-dollar budget shortfall (cleveland.com) — Mentor Schools' longtime chief financial officer, Bill Wade, is leaving Sept. 30 just as the district faces a multimillion‑dollar budget shortfall and weighs closing some of its seven elementary schools. Officials are studying enrollment, building conditions, and future development to cut $3.3–$3.5 million starting in 2027-28, while the board now must also decide how to fill this key financial role. 
• 2026 high school girls cross country area watch list (news-herald.com) — A regional cross country watch list highlights standout girls runners for the 2026 season, including sophomore Alaina Gvora from Mentor. Gvora quickly became Mentor's lead runner last year, qualifying for the Division I state meet with a best time under 19:24, putting her among the area's top returning competitors.
