• Mentor pauses new car wash applications for six months (cleveland.com) — Mentor City Council has temporarily stopped accepting new car wash applications for six months while it studies traffic backups, safety concerns, and how many car washes the city can reasonably handle. Existing proposals already in the pipeline can still move forward, but any new plans must wait while officials decide if zoning and traffic rules need tightening around busy intersections and business areas. 
• Mentor seeks new engineering firm on Lake Erie shoreline erosion project (cleveland.com) — Mentor officials are considering replacing the engineering firm designing erosion protections at Mentor Lagoons Nature Preserve after key staff changes raised concerns about expertise and timing. City Council is weighing a new $1.2 million agreement with Kimley-Horn, whose team includes engineers experienced with Lake Erie shoreline projects, while also reviewing potential legal risks of ending the original contract.
