Mentor City Council approves new rules for e-bikes (fox8.com) — If you ride an e-bike in Mentor, new city rules now require helmets, lights at night, and turning off the motor when using sidewalks. Violations are minor misdemeanors, and residents can contact the Mentor Police Department with questions about where and how they can ride.
   

2. Sentencing for Mentor man guilty of hitting 2 bicyclists before police standoff (cleveland19.com) — A Lake County man who struck two bicyclists near Headlands Beach and then triggered an hours-long standoff in a Mentor neighborhood is being sentenced after pleading to felonious assault and robbery. Mentor police and SWAT officers used gas, drones, and a forced entry before arresting him, and both injured cyclists survived with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
   

3. Honoring Our Heroes, Home Depot volunteers give Leroy Township veteran new patio (news-herald.com) — Mentor Home Depot employees joined nonprofit Honoring Our Heroes to build a new patio and landscape the yard of a disabled Navy veteran in nearby Leroy Township, giving him easier access to his backyard pond. About 30 volunteers and a Home Depot grant supplied materials and labor, reflecting an ongoing local effort to support veterans with free home repairs and maintenance.
   

4. High school volleyball: 11 area teams ranked in second OHSVCA poll (news-herald.com) — Mentor's girls volleyball team has climbed to seventh in the Division I state poll, trailing only Strongsville in their district and setting up key matches on Sept. 29 and Oct. 20. Several other nearby programs, including Riverside and Lake Catholic, also shifted in the latest statewide rankings, giving local fans a clearer picture of this season's playoff contenders.
