• Oak Harbor gets $10,000 grant to give students a safer walk to school (thenews-messenger.com) — Oak Harbor is getting a new flashing crosswalk beacon at Maple Street and State Route 163, funded mostly by a $10,076 state safety grant, to protect students walking to nearby schools and parks. Village leaders say it’s the first project from their Safe Routes to School plan and hope it leads to more improvements that make walking around Oak Harbor safer and easier.

Over two days they battled rough weather, still brought home plenty of fish, and sampled local spots like Port Clinton’s Brick House, showcasing how Oak Harbor anchors a broader Western Basin fishing getaway.
