Judge appoints Patrick McCune to Parma City Schools Board of Education (cleveland.com) — Parma residents have a new voice on the Parma City Schools Board, after a judge appointed longtime resident Patrick McCune to fill a vacant seat. McCune, motivated by recent youth issues and a tragedy affecting Valley Forge High School, says he’s eager to help Parma, Seven Hills and Parma Heights move forward together on student and community needs.
   

2. Drunk Parma man arrested for tinkling in public: Parma Heights Police Blotter (cleveland.com) — Several recent Parma Heights police calls involved Parma residents, including a 69-year-old man cited for indecent exposure and another cited for disorderly conduct while intoxicated after falling off a bicycle. Other reports detailed a stolen car, a missing bicycle, an assault, and identity theft, offering a snapshot of nearby safety issues Parma residents may want to note.
   

3. Ohio legislature votes to expand state school board after cutting it (cleveland.com) — State lawmakers just advanced a massive education bill that, among many changes, responds directly to a dispute in Parma City School District over whether deployed board member Ashley McTaggart can be penalized for absences. The bill would expand the state school board, protect deployed members from removal for missed meetings, tweak teen work-hour rules, and tighten accountability for struggling charter schools.
   

4. Parma bishop visits Davenport diocese (catholicmessenger.net) — A Byzantine Catholic bishop whose cathedral is based in Parma recently traveled to Iowa City to celebrate Divine Liturgy with a small outreach community. While the visit centered on Eastern Iowa, it highlights Parma’s role as the cathedral home for Byzantine Catholics across 12 Midwestern states, connecting local faithful to a wider regional church network.
