• Reading police chief to retire after administrative leave, external investigation (wlwt.com) — Reading’s police chief, Bryan Edens, will retire Aug. 7 after being placed on administrative leave during an external investigation, with Lt. Daniel Flottemesch continuing as interim chief. City officials aren’t sharing details about the probe, but past concerns over department culture and officer grievances were aired in council meetings, even as many residents say they still trust Reading’s officers.
