• Shaker Heights officials await environmental clearance on Lomond sewers, trees (cleveland.com) — Shaker Heights is waiting on a revised EPA clearance before deciding whether nine mature pin oaks along Lomond Boulevard must be cut down to finish an $8.3 million sewer replacement serving 1,200 homes. Residents are pressing City Council and federal regulators for a full environmental review, raising concerns about tree loss, dust, underground water issues, and another year of construction disruption in the Lynnfield-Lomond neighborhood. 
• Local union questions Shaker Heights issuing tickets at informational pickets (cleveland.com) — Shaker Heights union organizers say city police detained them and issued disturbing-the-peace tickets after an informational picket outside Bellefaire JCB, and they're asking council to scrutinize how protests are handled. City officials listened but did not comment, while organizers allege selective enforcement, possible union-busting, and urge residents to support workers' rights in future demonstrations.
