Toledo library to host job fair with dozens of employers (toledoblade.com) — Toledo job seekers can connect with dozens of local employers at a free job fair hosted by the Toledo Lucas County Public Library and OhioMeansJobs on Oct. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Main Library. Attendees are encouraged to bring resumes and talk directly with recruiters from organizations like Directions Credit Union, Imagination Station, Kroger, UPS, Toledo Fire & Rescue, and more.
   

2. Toledo City Council votes to approve Flock audit (13abc.com) — Toledo City Council has ordered an independent audit of Flock license-plate cameras, examining how searches are done and how data is stored while keeping more than 100 cameras running. Leaders say the review, driven largely by District 4's heavy camera use, could lead to new policies aimed at preventing illegal or improper searches and better protecting residents' rights.
   

3. Brent Industries records reveal prior fires, inspection violations and delinquent bills one month after deadly explosion (wtol.com) — Toledo residents are learning more about the Brent Industries plant in south Toledo, where records show multiple prior fires, inspection violations, delinquent property taxes and a large unpaid city utility bill before last month's deadly explosion. Investigators are still determining the cause, while the city confirms the massive utility balance is on a payment plan and environmental test results are pending.
   

4. Toledo Fire Chief Allison Armstrong returns home after Colorado crash (wtol.com) — Toledo Fire Chief Allison Armstrong is back home in Toledo recovering from serious injuries suffered in a Colorado car crash, and says she faces a weeks-long healing process. She's thanking her husband, local firefighters, and Toledo Firefighters Local 92 for rallying around her, and is focusing on small daily improvements as she returns to the community she serves.
   

5. Kaptur ad on transgender athletes in schools draws backlash from local Democrats (13abc.com) — Toledo-based Democrats and LGBTQ+ advocates are sharply criticizing Rep. Marcy Kaptur's new campaign ad about transgender athletes, urging her to pull it and warning it harms an already vulnerable community. Equality Toledo's director calls the messaging irresponsible, while Kaptur's campaign defends emphasizing parental input in schools and local control over sports rules amid broader concerns about economic issues.
