She drove to the jail before realizing the spoofed phone number and suspicious instructions were part of a scheme, prompting deputies to remind residents never to meet callers and to verify directly with authorities.
   

3. A Partnership with a Purpose: A Toledo Covenant with Central State University – The Sojourner's Truth (thetruthtoledo.com) — Toledo faith and civic leaders are renewing a formal covenant with Central State University to open more college pathways for local students, especially Black youth. With support from the mayor, state senator, school superintendent, and Owens Community College, the partnership aims to boost college-going rates and build a pipeline from Toledo schools to the HBCU and back.
   

4. Saint Francis, Saint John's open doors to families stranded after Cardinal Stritch Catholic High School's December closure (wtol.com) — Toledo-area Catholic families are scrambling after Cardinal Stritch High School announced it will close in December 2026, but several local schools are stepping up. Saint Francis de Sales in Toledo is preparing to welcome affected students and work individually on academics and finances, while Saint John's Jesuit and Central Catholic are also offering support and transfer options as families decide their next steps.
   

5. 3 years later, Toledo groups reflect on lives lost and impacted by Israel-Hamas war (wtol.com) — Toledo residents from Jewish and Muslim communities held separate gatherings to remember lives lost in the Israel‑Hamas war and call attention to its ongoing human toll. One event in nearby Sylvania focused on remembrance and antisemitism, while a west Toledo protest urged an end to the violence and questioned U.S. military support for Israel, reflecting diverse local perspectives.
