Troy Council authorizes $1.63 mil in recreation and road grants (miamivalleytoday.com) — Troy City Council has lined up more than $1.63 million in grants to improve local parks, accessibility, and a key road intersection. Funding targets a new wetland at Duke Park, upgrades at the Lincoln Community Center and Herrlinger Park, and design work for the West Main and Experiment Farm Road intersection, with a public input meeting set for June 24 at Hobart Arena.

2. Teen remains hospitalized months after shooting in Troy neighborhood (k991fm.com) — A 16-year-old boy shot in a Troy neighborhood in April is still hospitalized with serious impairments, according to Police Chief Shawn McKinney. Investigators have executed multiple search warrants, interviewed witnesses, and have two Troy residents in custody on related charges, while they continue building a case and asking for the community’s continued patience.

3. Painted Pianos return to downtown Troy (miamivalleytoday.com) — Colorful, playable pianos are back across downtown Troy now through Sept. 1, celebrating America’s 250th with designs tied to America250-Ohio themes. The biennial Painted Pianos Project, led by Troy Main Street and the city, brings interactive public art to sidewalks, the Courthouse Plaza, and other spots, inviting residents to stop, play, and linger downtown all summer.

4. Miami County to host Declaration of Independence reading July 8 (miamivalleytoday.com) — Miami County is inviting residents to the Miami County Courthouse in Troy on Wednesday, July 8, for a free community reading of the Declaration of Independence. Starting at 5 p.m., the evening features food trucks, live music, costumed reenactors, ceremonial bell ringing, a musket demonstration, and courthouse tours, with the formal reading set for 6 p.m.

High school softball OHSFCA All-Ohioans announced (news-herald.com) — Two Troy High School softball players, Mimi Shaw and Amayah Kennedy, have earned All-Ohio recognition from the state coaches association, highlighting local talent on a big stage. The extensive list spans all divisions and showcases standout athletes from schools across Ohio, including several other Miami County programs.
