• Urbana PD officer cleared in shooting (urbanacitizen.com) — An Urbana police officer has been cleared of criminal charges after a May 15 officer-involved shooting on West Church Street, following an independent state investigation. Prosecutors concluded the officer’s single shot, which wounded a man in the leg during a volatile domestic violence call, was legally justified. The man later admitted provoking officers and received a multi-year prison sentence for felonious assault.
   

• August mobile food distributions by Second Harvest (wdtn.com) — Second Harvest is bringing free drive-thru food distribution to several Champaign County spots this month, including the Champaign County Fairgrounds in Urbana on August 21 from 10–11 a.m. Residents can also visit sites in Woodstock, St. Paris, and Mechanicsburg, with additional dates available in neighboring Logan County for anyone able to travel.
