Vantage CC, QTS host data center community event « The VW independent (thevwindependent.com) — QTS officials met with more than 100 residents at Vantage Career Center to answer questions about the $10 billion data center planned for Van Wert’s east-side Mega Site. Company representatives addressed concerns about water and energy use, explaining a closed-loop cooling system and utility upgrades funded by QTS. Construction could involve about 1,500 workers, with the first building targeted to open in early 2029.

2. MSVW launches golf cart raffle « The VW independent (thevwindependent.com) — Main Street Van Wert is raffling off a new $10,000 golf cart to raise money for downtown revitalization, events, and beautification projects that keep Van Wert vibrant. Tickets are on sale now, with multiple pricing options, and the winning ticket will be drawn July 6. You can buy tickets online or at the Main Street Van Wert office on East Main Street.

3. Charles R. 'Charlie/Chuck' Benard (westbendnews.net) — Family and friends in Van Wert are mourning Charles “Chuck” Benard, whose son Ted King lives here, after Chuck passed away at age 65 at his home in Grover Hill. The longtime Haviland Drainage Products employee was known for his love of NASCAR, loud rock music, and collecting knives, watches, and hats. Private services and inurnment will be held at the family’s convenience.

4. VWCO Sheriff's activity log 6/10/2026 « The VW independent (thevwindependent.com) — The latest sheriff’s activity log details a busy June 10 across Van Wert County, including calls to Van Wert Juvenile Probation for a possible child abuse report and to South Market Street in the city to help a locked-out motorist. Deputies also handled trespassing complaints, EMS calls in nearby townships, and served a Van Wert Common Pleas Court warrant, with the suspect held at the county correctional facility.
