WESTLAKE: Five years of research gives way to plaque installment in City Hall (westlifenews.com) — Westlake residents will soon see 13 new plaques in City Hall honoring more than two centuries of department leaders, thanks to years of research by Clerk of Council Denise Rosenbaum. Her work fills major gaps in the city's historical records and highlights the long-serving public servants who helped shape Westlake's government as the community grew and departments evolved.
   

2. Westlake climbs to 5 stars with 97.5% graduation rate: Ohio school report cards 2026 (cleveland.com) — Westlake families can celebrate as the school district earns a perfect five-star overall rating on Ohio's 2025-26 report card, with a 97.5% graduation rate and strong test scores. The district outperforms statewide averages in achievement and absenteeism, while still having room to grow in student progress and early literacy measures.
   

3. Community West Foundation awards $1.37 million to area nonprofits (cleveland.com) — Westlake-based Community West Foundation has awarded $1.37 million in grants to nonprofits serving Cleveland, western Cuyahoga County and Lorain County, bolstering health care, disability services and addiction recovery. Several first-time recipients will expand maternal, reproductive and behavioral health access, while many returning organizations will strengthen everything from domestic violence intervention to youth programming across the region.
   

4. AVON/NORTH RIDGEVILLE: Pact with North Ridgeville finalized (westlifenews.com) — Drivers near Westlake should expect intermittent overnight closures on Mills Road as Avon and North Ridgeville partner on a nearly four-mile resurfacing project starting at the Westlake border and running to the Mills–Stoney Ridge roundabout. Avon council also advanced plans tied to Cleveland Clinic's major campus expansion, a second fire station, and future road improvements at Stoney Ridge and Kinzel.
   

5. Bonnie (Fox) Semon's charming childhood on North Bass Island (thebeacon.net) — A longtime Westlake resident, Bonnie (Fox) Semon, fills her Westlake home with antiques and memories from her childhood on North Bass Island, including a treasured phonograph from family friends. Her story traces generations of grape-growing, fishing and simple island living, and shows how those roots still shape her life in Westlake today.
