Flag Day ceremony brings history and hands-on learning to Wooster (the-daily-record.com) — A free Flag Day program is coming to the Wayne County Historical Society schoolhouse in Wooster on Sunday, June 14, featuring a history talk and live flag-folding demonstration. Jacob Allen to become Ohio Light Opera artistic director in Wooster (yourohionews.com) — Wooster’s own Ohio Light Opera is entering a new era as longtime leader Dr. Jacob Allen steps up to artistic director this August, just as the 2026 season opens June 13 with My Fair Lady. Allen, who calls Wooster his second home, urges residents to support the company by buying tickets, bringing friends, and staying engaged with this nationally respected local arts gem.

These Akron-Canton area high school grads are Star Student semifinalists (indeonline.com) — One of this year’s Star Student semifinalists comes from right here at Wooster High School, with senior Renee Sprowls earning a spot among the Akron-Canton region’s Top 50 nominees. The recognition places a local student alongside peers from schools across Northeast Ohio, highlighting strong academic achievement and community involvement from Wooster’s graduating class.

Wayne County traffic report highlights risky driving (the-daily-record.com) — New crash data released from Wooster shows Wayne County has already seen 794 crashes in 2026, including six fatalities, with many involving unbelted, distracted, or impaired drivers. Safe Communities of Wayne County and the Health Department are urging residents to buckle up, avoid distractions, and consider joining their coalition to help reduce preventable deaths on local roads.
