Jerry Jackson to be honored with new history center in Perry County (zanesvilletimesrecorder.com) — Longtime Zanesville resident and educator Jerry Jackson will be honored this weekend with a new history center in Rendville and a gathering at the Nelson T. Gant House in Zanesville. Friends, former students, and community members are invited to share memories as his decades of teaching, coaching, and community service are celebrated. His legacy includes major contributions to local organizations and historic preservation. 
2. Bishop Rosecrans graduates 28 (catholictimescolumbus.org) — Zanesville’s Bishop Rosecrans High School has graduated 28 members of the Class of 2026, celebrating with a Baccalaureate Mass and gymnasium ceremony in late May. Most graduates are heading to college or trade school, collectively earning over $400,000 in scholarships and logging thousands of service hours that reflect well on the local community.
3. Philo man flown to Columbus hospital after 2-vehicle crash on Ohio 555 (zanesvilletimesrecorder.com) — A two-vehicle crash on Ohio 555 sent a Philo man by MedFlight to Columbus and injured a Zanesville driver and Dresden passenger, who were taken to Genesis. South Zanesville and Zanesville fire departments, along with county deputies and ODOT, responded at the scene, underscoring the seriousness of the incident for local travelers.
4. OSHP warns of 100 Deadliest Days of Summer on the road (whiznews.com) — State troopers at the Zanesville post are warning drivers about the “100 Deadliest Days of Summer,” when crashes and fatalities spike between Memorial Day and Labor Day. They’re especially urging local parents and teens to avoid distractions, buckle up, and report reckless or impaired driving by calling #677.
5. Animal Shelter Society Pet of the Week: Meet Judy! (whiznews.com) — A 1-year-old Pekingese-Pomeranian mix named Judy is waiting at the Animal Shelter Society in Zanesville for a secure, attentive home that understands her love of running. The shelter is also preparing two big fundraisers: the final Feral Felines event on June 27 at Tiny Tap Tavern and the 8th Annual Putt 4 Paws on July 18. Both support care for over 100 animals.
