• McAlester man charged with first-degree murder following fatal shooting of mother (fox23.com) — A McAlester-area man has been charged with first-degree murder after his mother was fatally shot at a home near Bristow Point Road and Eufaula Lake Drive. Investigators say an argument escalated inside the house before the shooting, and federal and tribal authorities are now handling the case because of the suspect’s tribal status. The U.S. Attorney’s Office is reviewing potential prosecution.
   

• Claremore's Roberts wins Phoenix Bass Fishing League Okie Division Tournament at Lake Eufaula (eufaulaindianjournal.com) — A regional bass tournament on Lake Eufaula featured strong southeastern Oklahoma showings, including a third-place finish for Sean McAllister of McAlester with five bass weighing 16 pounds, 5 ounces. Claremore angler Elmer Roberts took the overall win using a shallow flipping pattern. The event feeds into the Okie Division points race that could send top anglers to a major regional championship.
