• Emergency Management facility, CAD system could be funded through grants if successful (newcastlepacer.com) — Newcastle city leaders are pursuing federal and regional grants to build a new emergency communications facility behind the police department and to buy a modern CAD system to speed police and emergency responses. If funded, the 5,000-square-foot building and cloud-based software could significantly improve how quickly officers are dispatched and how calls are tracked across the city.

• Legal Notices 04-16-2026 (newcastlepacer.com) — A Newcastle home at 539 NE 21st Street has a sheriff’s sale awaiting court confirmation May 6, which may interest nearby property owners. The city also passed several ordinances updating ditching and pavement-cutting permit rules and fees, and rezoned multiple tracts for commercial and agricultural use, shaping how land and utilities can be developed around town.
