1. Firefighters battle grass fire in northeast Oklahoma City (okcfox.com) — A small grass fire near Kelley and Musgrave in northeast Oklahoma City was quickly contained Wednesday afternoon before it could reach nearby homes. Firefighters say dry grass and heat helped the flames spread, and investigators suspect an electrical spark near a power line started the blaze. No injuries were reported, but it's another reminder of current fire danger around the city.
   

2. Good Samaritan fixes metro church A/C after thief steals copper from it (kfor.com subscription) — A longtime northeast Oklahoma City church had its air conditioning copper stolen, leaving members facing a $5,000 repair in triple-digit heat until local HVAC company Accutemp stepped in to fix it for free. The Greater Mount Carmel Baptist Church was cooled in time for Sunday service, lifting morale for congregants, while a separate Wetumka church still seeks help replacing its stolen unit.
   

3. OKC plan to release water from Canton Lake amid drought draws controversy (koco.com) — Oklahoma City will begin releasing 16,000 acre-feet of water from Canton Lake on Sept. 17 to refill drought-stricken Lake Hefner, where levels have dropped nearly eight feet and caused fish kills. While the move aims to protect Oklahoma City's water supply, it's raising concerns among Canton Lake residents about their own lake levels and potential waste during transfer.
   

4. Residents work to rebuild after bring displaced by northwest Oklahoma City apartment fire (news9.com) — Northwest Oklahoma City residents displaced by The Meadows Apartments fire are still living in hotels while nonprofits work to secure new housing, furniture, and basic supplies. Investigators say the late-August blaze, which damaged 46 units, was intentionally set. Local groups including Key to Home, City Rescue Mission, and others are coordinating donations of food, pet supplies, clothing, and deposits to help affected neighbors restart.
   

5. Oklahoma musician plans benefit concert to help fund his kidney transplant (news9.com) — An Oklahoma City musician, Tony Foster Jr., is hosting a Sept. 24 benefit concert at the ACM@UCO Live Room to help pay for his kidney transplant and recovery. Local residents can attend the show, featuring several performers, or donate online if they can't make it, with free admission available for UCO students with ID.
