Elderly Tahlequah mother stranded by constant flooding due to construction (kjrh.com) — An elderly Tahlequah resident’s home near Highway 82 is repeatedly cut off by deep floodwater that her family blames on an ongoing state highway realignment project. City officials say only ODOT can fix the problem, and the agency now plans drainage improvements and property restoration starting later this month, with overall project completion expected this fall.
   

2. Cherokee Nation Announces 2026 Remember the Removal Bike Ride Participants (nativenewsonline.net) — Several Cherokee Nation cyclists from Tahlequah have been selected for the 2026 Remember the Removal Bike Ride, retracing nearly 950 miles of the Trail of Tears this June. Locals Jaden Carroll and mentor rider Kristen Mankiller, along with other Tahlequah participants, have spent months training, studying Cherokee language, and researching family history to honor their ancestors on this demanding three‑week journey.
   

3. The gallery, posted the day after the April 14 storms, offers a visual look at how hard local neighborhoods were hit and helps residents compare impacts across the region.
   

4. Oklahoma Tribes receive millions for affordable housing (fourstateshomepage.com) — Tahlequah residents should know the Cherokee Nation, headquartered in town, is receiving more than $53 million in new federal funding for affordable housing. The grant is part of over $1.1 billion HUD is distributing to tribes nationwide, supporting construction, modernization, safety, and services for Native families across Indian Country.
