1. TPS starts new school year with academic gains, focus on attendance and student success (ktul.com) — Tulsa Public Schools is kicking off the new year with rising test scores, lower chronic absenteeism, and new policies on cell phones, recess, and conflict resolution. District leaders are also bracing for about $12 million in additional budget cuts while preparing students for upcoming changes to Oklahoma's third-grade reading law and launching new bond-funded projects across Tulsa campuses.

2. INCOG asks Tulsa-area drivers: Did we get the worst traffic spots right? (kjrh.com) — INCOG has pinpointed the Tulsa metro's worst traffic trouble spots and now wants your feedback on its top 25 street improvement recommendations. After months studying congestion on routes like Riverside, Memorial, U.S. 75 and U.S. 169, officials are asking Tulsa-area drivers, transit riders, cyclists and pedestrians to weigh in through September to help shape future fixes.

3. One year later, Tulsa park assaults remain unsolved and women reflect on safety (newson6.com) — One year after two unsolved sexual assaults at Turkey Mountain and Hunter Park, Tulsa women are still adjusting how and when they use local parks. Police say the cases are likely connected, while River Parks has added cameras tied to Tulsa Police and volunteers now patrol Turkey Mountain. Many residents remain cautious but continue seeking safe ways to enjoy these green spaces.

4. Tulsa woman says disability, shelter limitations leave her without a place to stay as hotel help runs out (newson6.com) — A disabled Tulsa-area woman is running out of hotel assistance after being unable to safely use floor mats at local shelters, exposing a serious gap in Tulsa's options for medically fragile people. Local pastor Chris Stephens and the Tulsa Day Center describe how current systems can't meet her needs during extreme heat, prompting calls for respite care and more flexible shelter solutions.

5. New chapter begins at Paragon Pipe Company (kjrh.com) — A Sapulpa-based pipe manufacturer, now called Paragon Pipe Company, has been bought for $40 million by Integrated Utility Services, led by Tulsa natives Trinity Dawson and Dustin Ketchum. The new owners are working to restore community and employee trust after former CEO Derek Wachob's federal fraud case, promising to stabilize jobs and rebuild the company's role in the local economy.
