1. City of Bend Launches Go Electric! Community Workshop Series (cascadebusnews.com) — Bend residents can now sign up for the City’s new Go Electric! workshop series, starting April 29, to learn how to cut energy use, save money, and make homes more comfortable. Sessions in Bend City Hall and Council Chambers cover electrification basics, weatherization help for income-qualified households, and renter-friendly upgrades, with in-person and Zoom options plus language and accessibility support.

2. Bend man arrested after March gun dispute (bendbulletin.com) — Police arrested a Bend man Thursday in connection with a March fight outside Cassity’s Bar in southwest Bend, where a handgun was allegedly pressed to someone’s chest. Officers stopped the suspect in northeast Bend, then served search warrants on his home and vehicles. He’s being held at Deschutes County Jail on menacing and assault charges.

Bend approves $4.3 million in street paving, chip seal and slurry seal work for 2026 (centraloregondaily.com) — Bend drivers can expect significant 2026 road work, as the City Council just approved $4.3 million for paving, chip seal, slurry seal, and micro-paving across key streets. Portions of Revere, Olney, Purcell, Mt. Washington, Skyliners Road and west-side neighborhoods will see closures or delays, funded through the city’s transportation fee on utility bills.

4. 'No one was reacting': 2 au pairs from France use training to save man at Bend bar (centraloregondaily.com) — Two visiting French au pairs used their first aid and CPR training to help save a man who collapsed at Duda’s Billiards Bar in downtown Bend, before Bend Police and Bend Fire & Rescue took over care. Their quick response highlights how bystander CPR can be lifesaving, and Bend Fire & Rescue is encouraging more residents to join its monthly CPR training program.

Bend Elks make major lighting upgrades to Vince Genna Stadium, earning Dark Sky certification (ktvz.com) — New lighting at Bend’s Vince Genna Stadium is cutting glare for nearby neighbors while still brightening the field, and the system just earned DarkSky certification. The Bend Elks replaced 1970s-era lights with modern LEDs that reduce light pollution and improve safety for players and fans. The team is spotlighting the achievement during International DarkSky Week.
