• Major Fire at Newport Seafood Plant Prompts Evacuations (jeffersondailynews.com) — Corvallis Fire crews were sent with an aerial truck and personnel to help battle Sunday’s massive fire at the Pacific Seafood plant on Newport’s bayfront, which triggered one-mile evacuation zones and hazmat monitoring for an ammonia leak. Most evacuation orders were lifted by Sunday night, no plant workers were hurt, and only one firefighter was hospitalized for exhaustion as the cause remains under investigation.
