• Man arrested for making death threats in Cottage Grove (chronicle1909.com) — Cottage Grove police arrested a 58-year-old man on June 6 after multiple 9-1-1 calls reported he was yelling at people and making death threats on Wilson Avenue. Officers, with help from Lane County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police, negotiated his peaceful surrender after he allegedly threatened to kill workers and claimed to have a gun. He was booked into Lane County Jail on menacing and disorderly conduct charges.
   

• Cottage Grove residents voice support for library (chronicle1909.com) — Cottage Grove residents packed City Hall to urge the city council not to slash the public library’s budget by 56% and cut staff to a mostly volunteer model. Speakers highlighted over 1,100 petition signatures, questioned city spending priorities, and warned officials that residents are watching closely. The council will revisit funding options, including the Community Promotions Fund, at its June 22 meeting.
