Knife-wielding man at Eugene library sought by police (kezi.com) — Police are asking Eugene residents to help identify a man who reportedly swung a knife and yelled inside the Eugene Public Library’s second floor on June 5 before leaving when a librarian intervened. Investigators also hope to locate a woman who left with him and may be a menacing victim, after video of the incident surfaced on social media and was reported June 6.

New Amazon warehouse could add 2,500 daily trips to Highway 99 (kezi.com) — Eugene’s City Council has approved a large Amazon warehouse near Highway 99, projected to generate about 2,600 additional vehicle trips a day and replace existing farmland. Local residents are raising alarms about worsening traffic on Highway 99, safety near the Eugene Airport, and the loss of agricultural land and natural resources.

3. Eugene's Owen Rose Garden peaks with 4,500 blooms this June (kezi.com) — Eugene’s Owen Rose Garden is at peak bloom this month, with more than 4,500 rose bushes and rare once-a-year heritage varieties on display through late June. Created from land donated by former city councilor George Owen, the riverside garden now spans over eight acres and also showcases the famed Oregon Heritage Cherry Tree linked to Eugene Skinner.

4. Los Angeles Children's Chorus Set for 12-Day West Coast Tour (operawire.com) — A renowned Los Angeles youth chorus will bring its West Coast anniversary tour to Eugene on June 30 for a joint Oregon Bach Festival concert with the Stangeland Family Youth Choral Academy at Central Lutheran Church. The 47-singer ensemble is also performing in Vancouver, Seattle, and San Francisco, with a free send‑off show in Pasadena before the tour begins.

Spokane Indians edge first-place Eugene second consecutive game 7-6 (spokesman.com) — Eugene baseball fans saw a heartbreaker at PK Park as the Spokane Indians rallied late and beat the first-place Eugene Emeralds 7-6 on Thursday night. Max Belyeu’s ninth-inning homer off Eugene reliever Cole Hillier sealed it, despite the Emeralds holding a 6-3 lead heading into the late innings, with the series continuing Friday evening in Eugene.
