• Community Hero: Mentor of the Year finds joy in connection (theoutlookonline.com) — A longtime Gresham resident has been honored as both a Big Brothers Big Sisters "Big of the Year" and one of The Outlook's 2026 Community Heroes for his years of mentoring local youth. Jeff Holmes, active with the Gresham Chamber and Senior Center, spends weekly one-on-one time with his teen mentee, building connection through walks, games, and conversations that support East Multnomah County kids. 
• Nonprofit to open Black Community Food Hub in Gresham (opb.org subscription) — A new Black Community Food Hub is set to open in Gresham, expanding a Portland-metro nonprofit's work supporting Black, Indigenous and other people of color in food systems. Founders Shantae Johnson and Arthur Shavers now run farms, a pantry and a commercial kitchen, and they're sharing their story on OPB's "Think Out Loud."
