1. HomeGoods to open at Gresham Station in summer 2027 (theoutlookonline.com) — HomeGoods is set to open a large new store at Gresham Station in summer 2027, filling and expanding into the former World Market and maurices spaces on NW 12th Street. The home décor retailer will join the center's refreshed lineup, giving Gresham shoppers another nearby option instead of driving to Portland or Clackamas locations.
   

2. Gresham Police in mourning after off-duty dog officer death (theoutlookonline.com) — Gresham's police department is mourning the sudden off-duty death of K9 officer Leni, a five-year-old German shepherd who joined the force in early 2024. The loss, possibly from a medical torsion, led to canceling a planned patrol dog demonstration at Tagg's Dog Days of Summer and has deeply affected her handler, fellow K9 teams, and officers across the region.
   

3. Mt. Hood Repertory Theatre announces new dedicated playhouse (youroregonnews.com) — A new dedicated playhouse at 1295 E. Powell Boulevard is giving Gresham audiences more live theater options, with a black box space opening by October and a main stage to follow. Mt. Hood Repertory Theatre is also expanding classes, mentorships, and Readers Theatre Gresham, whose new artistic director is launching a season focused on women reclaiming their stories.
   

4. Metro distributed 4,700 life jackets this summer (theoutlookonline.com) — Gresham residents may have seen Metro and WaterStrong handing out free life jackets and whistles at the Legacy Mount Hood Health and Safety Fair in town this July. That event was part of a broader regional push that distributed 4,700 life jackets, stocked loaner vests at Metro boat ramps, and shared safety tips to reduce Oregon's relatively high drowning rate.
