• Milton-Freewater man arrested after allegedly attempting to meet minor for sexual encounter (elkhornmediagroup.com) — Law enforcement arrested a 31-year-old Milton-Freewater man after an investigation into lewd messages reported by a student, with deputies intercepting him at a planned meeting location. The case, which includes multiple felony charges, remains under review by the Umatilla County District Attorney’s Office, and the suspect was still jailed Thursday with no listed bail.
   

• New Milton-Freewater ambulance station becoming concrete (eastoregonian.com) — Construction is underway on a new Milton-Freewater Rural Fire Department ambulance station at Highway 11 and Northwest Fifth Avenue, bringing emergency medical services into the city limits. Privately funded and expected to open by mid-fall, the 9,000-square-foot, three-bay facility will be staffed around the clock, improving response for the roughly 80% of calls coming from inside town.
   

• Oregon's community colleges, including BMCC celebrated in April (northeastoregonnow.com) — Blue Mountain Community College is highlighting its Milton-Freewater center during National Community College Month, emphasizing local access to more than 40 degree and certificate programs without leaving town. Enrollment is up over 7% this spring, and BMCC staff plan a Day of Service in Eastern Oregon communities while encouraging residents to explore affordable, workforce-focused education options.
