• Malheur County burn ban goes into effect Monday, 6/12 (elkhornmediagroup.com) — Starting today, all outdoor burning inside Ontario city limits is banned through September 30, with only tightly defined exceptions like permitted ag burns, firefighter training, and cooking in grills. Residents across Malheur County also face a county-wide burn ban and could be fined or billed for suppression costs if illegal burning or fireworks spark a fire.
   

• Governor's Marketplace Visits Ontario to Help Grow Rural Small Business Opportunities (oregon.gov) — State officials brought the Governor’s Marketplace small-business conference to Ontario’s Four Rivers Cultural Center, giving local entrepreneurs direct access to contracting tips, incentives, and tax-credit training. The one-day event marked the program’s first expansion into rural Oregon and highlighted new ways Ontario-area businesses can compete for state work and grow.
   

• Four Sentenced in Oregon-Idaho Methamphetamine Trafficking Case (dailyfly.com) — Two people from Ontario have been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison as part of a meth trafficking ring that moved drugs between California, Idaho, and eastern Oregon. Federal investigators say the multi-agency probe seized over 17 pounds of meth and led to lengthy sentences for four defendants across the region.
