• Adopt a pet: Vader (rv-times.com) — If you’re looking to add a playful pup to your Phoenix home, a 2‑month‑old Labrador named Vader is ready for adoption at the Jackson County Animal Shelter on South Pacific Highway. Staff say he’s energetic, vocal when left alone, and best suited for an active family that can provide training, exercise, and plenty of fetch. Shelter hours run Tuesday through Sunday with walk-ins welcome.
   

• SOESD opens new Phoenix district office after Almeda fire loss (ashland.news) — A new Southern Oregon Education Service District office has opened in Phoenix, replacing the facility lost in the 2020 Almeda Fire and adding classrooms, a sensory gym, and an expanded STEM maker space. Staff say the larger building will host STEPS Plus life-skills classes, teacher trainings, and after-school programs, aiming to better support students and educators from across the Rogue Valley.
   

• Phoenix surges to best baseball start in 8 years (rv-times.com) — Phoenix High’s Pirates baseball team is off to its best start in eight years, sitting at 9-3 and ranked No. 7 in Class 4A as Skyline Conference play begins. Players and coaches credit deep pitching, clutch hitting, and strong team chemistry for three walk-off wins, and say they’re determined to turn this hot start into a long-awaited playoff run.
