1. Your Chance to Win Tickets to The Wolf's Nice Christmas Show from Danny Dwyer! (audacy.com) — Portland country station KWJJ-FM is giving listeners a chance this week to win tickets to The Wolf's Nice Christmas Show at Veterans Memorial Coliseum on December 6. Callers around 7:35 a.m. can try to be the tenth caller, solve Danny's Barnyard Brain Teaser, and, if they meet mobile ticketing requirements, snag a pair of tickets.
   

2. Protest held at Mall 205 Home Depot to advocate for day laborer access (koin.com) — Day laborers and worker advocates rallied Sunday outside the Mall 205 Home Depot in Southeast Portland, pushing property managers to let workers continue seeking jobs near the store entrance. Organizers say new enforcement and security tactics have pushed workers onto nearby streets, cutting them off from contractors and homeowners who have hired there for years.
   

3. Seattle earns 4th-highest ranking in the world in new study of 1,000 cities (mynorthwest.com) — Portland ranks 53rd in a new global index of 1,000 cities, scoring especially well for its environment and economic strength but poorly for governance and quality of life. Seattle placed fourth overall, while Portland's weakest area was governance, where it tied Seattle with a low ranking of 198.
   

4. University of Washington study suggests more coyotes are living in cities (opb.org) — Coyotes are increasingly comfortable in cities, and researchers note they're even thriving in Portland's Eastmoreland neighborhood, where one was recently spotted. A new University of Washington study finds urban coyotes enjoy more diverse food and fewer predators than their rural counterparts, helping explain why their numbers are rising in Northwest cities.
   

5. Amtrak Cascades Airo trains debut Sept. 30 in the Pacific Northwest (opb.org) — New Amtrak Cascades Airo trains begin service Sept. 30 on the Vancouver–Seattle–Portland–Eugene corridor, giving Portland riders upgraded seats, larger restrooms, and better café cars. Oregon transportation officials say the modern trainsets should improve comfort and reliability as more units roll out through early 2027.
