Woman hospitalized after being stabbed by family member in NE Portland, police say (kptv.com) — A woman is recovering in the hospital after police say she was stabbed by a family member near Northeast 14th Avenue and Fremont Street in Portland on Saturday morning. Officers quickly responded, found her with serious injuries, and arrested a 55-year-old man at the scene, booking him into the Multnomah County Detention Center on assault and attempted murder charges.
   

2. Portland State Lands Record $5.9 Million NSF Grant to Turn Lab Discoveries (scienmag.com) — Portland State University just landed a record $5.9 million National Science Foundation grant to turn campus research into Portland companies, jobs and solutions. The three-year award will fuel seed funding, startup support and commercialization help through Propel PSU, tying PSU labs more tightly to the city's tech, AI, semiconductor and transportation sectors and aiming to boost the wider Portland metro economy.
   

3. Under-the-Bridge Departure Makes Waves in Portland (avbrief.com) — A low-flying floatplane's dramatic takeoff under Portland's Hawthorne Bridge has residents buzzing and prompted the FAA to say it will respond this week. The video shows the Daher Kodiak 100 lifting off the Willamette near downtown, leveling, then slipping under the bridge before climbing again, raising questions about safety and what consequences the pilot might face.
   

4. Portland State Vikings claim 2nd win at Homecoming, besting Utah Tech 30-14 (kptv.com) — Portland State football fans just saw the Vikings notch a convincing 30-14 Homecoming win over Utah Tech at Hillsboro Stadium, their second straight victory. Portland readers can now look ahead to PSU's Halloween home game against Idaho, which will be televised locally, after a two-week road stretch at Northern Arizona and Idaho State.
