2. New free mattress recycling program available in Prineville (centraloregonian.com) ā Prineville residents can now drop off old mattresses and box springs for free at the Prineville Recycling Depot on N. Main Street, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The new permanent site is part of Oregonās Bye Bye Mattress program, which recycles mattress materials into new products instead of sending them to the landfill.

Health risks found in Prineville domestic wells, public comment sought by OHA (ktvz.com) ā If you rely on a domestic well north of Prineville, new testing shows manganese, arsenic, nitrates, and bacteria in many wells, with some posing risks to infants. Oregon Health Authority is taking public comments on its draft health consultation through August 17 and urges affected households to test, treat water, and consider blood lead screening.

Over 74,000 ponderosa pine seedlings planted in Ochoco National Forest (ktvz.com) ā Reforestation crews based in Prineville have helped plant more than 74,000 ponderosa pine seedlings in the Crazy Creek Fire burn area of the Ochoco National Forest, restoring 424 acres. Using the Good Neighbor Authority, Oregon Department of Forestry and the Forest Service teamed up to speed post-fire recovery and strengthen the longāterm health of Central Oregonās forests.

The Seventh Annual āFriends of the Luau' Event Benefiting Partners In Care & ClearPath Healthcare is Coming Back to Central Oregon (cascadebusnews.com) ā Prineville residents are invited to a June 27 āFriends of the Luauā fundraiser in Redmond that directly supports hospice and serious-illness care available in Prineville and across Central Oregon. Proceeds benefit Partners In Care and ClearPath Healthcare, which provide hospice, grief support, and Transitions programs serving Crook County neighbors of all ages.
