Hosted with help from the Douglas Forest Protective Association, the field trip teaches kids about wildland fire basics, suppression tactics, and why fire prevention matters in local forests.

2. 115 Pacific Power Foundation grants deliver $344,002 for safety and wellness programs (nbc16.com) ā Roseburgās YMCA of Douglas County is among local groups receiving new Pacific Power Foundation grants aimed at safety and wellness, alongside programs like Camp Millennium and the North Umpqua Holiday Food and Gift Program. The funding supports food assistance, shelter, and health services across Oregon, Washington, and California, with a direct boost to organizations serving Douglas County residents.

After NORPAC exits market, only 1 US newsprint mill remains (thenewstribune.com) ā Roseburgās longtime daily, The News-Review, will stop printing a physical paper on April 24 after 159 years and shift to a revamped, mostly digital model. The change comes as U.S. newsprint production plummets, leaving just one domestic newsprint mill and forcing many newspapers nationwide to rethink how they publish and reach readers.
