• Another Gray Whale Washes Up on Oregon Coast, at Seaside: Early Observations, Video (beachconnection.net) — A dead gray whale washed ashore right in front of Seaside Aquarium, marking the sixth gray whale stranding on Northwest beaches in less than a month. Local experts will perform a necropsy in the coming days to look for signs of trauma or malnourishment, part of a broader effort to understand why so many gray whales are arriving in poor condition. 
• Briefs for April 16, 2026 (seasidesignal.com) — A 40-foot male gray whale washed ashore Tuesday on the south end of Seaside Beach near Avenue K, drawing attention from locals and officials. The Seaside Aquarium says a necropsy is planned later this week to learn more about the stranding. • Seaside Woman Sentenced to Federal Prison for Stealing COVID-19 Unemployment Benefits (gorgenewscenter.com) — A Seaside woman has been sentenced to just over two years in federal prison and ordered to repay more than $580,000 for fraudulently obtaining COVID-19 unemployment benefits. Federal investigators say she used the identities of 27 people, deposited hundreds of benefit checks, and even cashed some at a Seaside gas station. Officials emphasize they will keep pursuing pandemic-related fraud across Oregon.
