• Countywide ban on burning yard debris takes effect Monday • Lincoln Chronicle (lincolnchronicle.org) — Starting Monday, June 15, all outdoor yard-debris burning will be banned across Lincoln County, including in Yachats, through Oct. 15 because of rising fire danger. Recreational campfires and barbecues are still allowed unless further restricted, and residents are urged to check with their local districts, including the Yachats Fire District, using the published phone numbers for current rules and guidance.
   

• A Whale of a Tale? Siletz Harvesters Share Their Perspective on November's Incident with Audience (underscore.news) — Siletz tribal members recently shared their powerful story of harvesting a stranded humpback whale with 165 people gathered at the Amanda Gathering Place in Yachats. They described how the November 2025 event near San Marine helped restore long-suppressed cultural practices, while also confronting online racism and misunderstandings. Locals heard directly how the tribe worked with agencies, honored the whale, and plans to use the bones for education and art.
