• LCL26-175 Agency: USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). Meeting: Lincoln (thenewsguard.com) — Local farmers, woodland owners, and residents can meet USDA conservation staff at Yachats Commons on Thursday, April 30, to learn about technical and financial assistance programs. The Lincoln-Siuslaw Local Work Group is also asking for community input on conservation priorities affecting Lincoln County and western Lane County, with options to attend in person or via Zoom. 
• Another gray whale washes up on Oregon Coast (statesmanjournal.com) — A recently deceased gray whale that washed ashore near Seaside is the third stranding on the Oregon Coast in just a few weeks, including one found north of Yachats on April 12. Marine experts say strandings are more common during spring migration, but ongoing population declines along the West Coast continue to worry scientists.
