An 80-year-old gynecologist from Montgomery County sexually assaulted multiple patients at practices in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania, authorities said.

Jerome Check, of Melrose Park, Pennsylvania, has been charged with three counts of second-degree sexual assault by the Burlington County, New Jersey prosecutor's office.

Incidents occurred between December 2024 and March 2025 when Check, a reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist, was alone in rooms with patients during their appointments, police said.

Two of these patients believed their visits were informational only, until Check said it was necessary to perform what the Prosecutor's Office called an "invasive" check, according to authorities.

Check was taken into custody in September and released after an appearance in Superior Court. His case is now being prepared for a grand jury.

Check has a fertility office on Old York Road in Melrose Park. He was previously listed on the Cooper University Health website as the Head of Reproductive Endocrinology and a Professor at the Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. That page has since been removed.

Online records show Check has practiced for more than 20 years and worked at the Cooper Institute for Reproductive Hormonal Disorders, located at 17000 Commerce Pkwy.

Patch has reached out to Cooper University Health for more on the actions surrounding Check's charges and is yet to hear back.
