• New School Year Starting Next Week In Eastern Montco (patch.com) — Families in Abington and across eastern Montgomery County are getting ready as most local school districts begin the 2026–2027 year on Monday, ahead of Labor Day. Abington School District is one of the few holding to a post–Labor Day tradition, with all K–12 students starting classes on Tuesday, Sept. 8, giving local families a bit more time to prepare.
   

• Abington Police Drop Flock Cameras Over Data Security Concerns (montco.today) — Abington Township Police are phasing out their Flock license-plate cameras after data security worries and leaked search records raised privacy concerns for local drivers. The department still values license-plate readers but is seeking a new vendor with stronger safeguards, and any replacement contract will need township commissioner approval. Residents can request Flock search logs through Pennsylvania's Right-to-Know process.
   

• Montco's Vanished Estates: The Rabbit Sculpture, the Bulldozer, and the Fight That Saved a Garden (vista.today) — Abington readers may be surprised that the Abington Art Center sits on Alverthorpe, a former Gilded Age estate much like others that once dotted Montgomery County.
