• Giant nuclear waste dump in Armstrong County set to be dug up (wsgw.com) — A long-buried nuclear waste site tied to Apollo’s Cold War-era nuclear industry is finally being dug up in a massive federal cleanup starting this week. Crews will spend six to eight years carefully removing buried radioactive drums and contaminated soil in nearby Parks Township, with multiple layers of air and water monitoring to protect surrounding communities in Armstrong County.
