Driver Beaten, Stabbed By Group Of Men After Crash On The Main Line: Police

LOWER MERION, PA — A man got into a crash and stabbed the other driver Sunday before fleeing the scene and getting arrested in a Main Line park, authorities said.

State Police believe other suspects were involved in the assault, which hospitalized the victim.

The incident unfolded around 5:30 p.m. on the ramp linking I-76 East to I-476 South in Lower Merion. The victim told troopers that a U-Haul rear-ended their vehicle. Then, the victim was assaulted by several men from the U-Haul and possibly other vehicles.

During that time, the U-Haul driver stabbed the victim in the abdomen with a knife, according to preliminary investigation from State Police. The men fled the scene in the U-Haul and other cars.

The victim, whom troopers spoke to near the crash scene, was brought to Lankenau Medical Center. Their condition wasn't immediately available.

Shortly after the suspects fled, Lower Merion Police saw the U-Haul at the Sunoco gas station on 1240 E Lancaster Ave. When police got there, the driver ran way, officials said.

He was arrested a short time later in Austin Memorial Park, a couple blocks up the road.

State Police did not share the suspect's name or announce any charges in a news release on Monday. No other arrests were announced.
