Officials say the hike is driven largely by debt for the high school renovation and upcoming contracts, marking the second straight year Butler-side taxpayers shoulder an increase while Armstrong County’s rate drops.

2. Lunch available through several Butler locales this summer (butlereagle.com) — Butler families can get free, full meal bags for children all summer through the city’s Parks and Plates program at five local parks, starting June 15. Breakthrough Butler, the Kids’ Weekend Backpack Program, and Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank are teaming up to offer weekday park distributions plus weekly meal boxes at Emily Brittain Elementary, aiming to keep local kids well-fed while school is out.

3. Police Find $41K and Pills In Drug Bust (wbut.com) — Local drug task force officers seized $41,000 in cash, firearms, and more than 200 oxymorphone pills during searches at two Butler County homes, leading to charges against two men from Detroit. Both suspects were jailed in Butler County Prison, posted bail, and now await a June 18 preliminary hearing on controlled substance charges that stem from alleged pill sales in the county.

4. Did Trump say 'Meet the Press' interviewer Kristen Welker kept staring at his ear? (snopes.com) — A national fact‑check examines a fake social media post falsely claiming President Trump said he walked out on an NBC interview because the reporter stared at his ear, injured during the 2024 rally in Butler. While Butler is central to the backstory of his ear injury, the piece mainly clarifies that Trump never made the quoted comments online.
